Katon Bouzalakos
Independent Candidate for Gwyr Abertawe
Senedd Election – 7 May 2026
My Vision: Power Back to the People of Swansea & Gower
I stand as an independent voice for the residents of Gwyr Abertawe. Too often, decisions favour distant corporations over local people, health, and common sense. I will fight for real accountability, protect our environment and privacy, cut waste, and put Swansea families, workers, and communities first.
Key Commitments
Local Economy & Jobs
Give priority to local businesses and people in all council contracts and decisions to boost the Swansea economy and improve the quality of life for residents.
Health & Environment
Promote organic food to kids and adults.
Amend tobacco regulations, commercial tobacco contains pesticides, some of them more harmful than the tobacco itself. Give a licence to local farmers for organic tobacco production.
We eat food from all around the world, but we don’t know what pesticides have been used. We need the pesticide label.
Introducing kimchi to schools helps detox the kids from microplastics and other contaminants.
Remove junk food from schools.
Create a health app for kids and adults to help people improve their quality of life,
Support free or subsidised water filters for local households to improve drinking water quality.
Make Swansea energy-independent from international energy cartels, or at least partly independent, from the grid, with roof solar, Welsh coal or other technologies. Help people reduce their bills.
Introduced crops like hemp and linseed for food, biodiesel and fibre are being used for Fuel, packaging and carbon capture. As some of the strongest natural fibres in the world, they have been utilised for thousands of years. We can use them to reduce dependency on oil cartels and plastic packaging.” My target is to reduce plastic use in Swansea. Microplastics and Nanoplastics are affecting your mental and overall health.
We don’t agree with the current UK government’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA), which is investing £56.8 million in the “Exploring Climate Cooling” programme.
Use technology to help Swansea people, not only to give them fines. For example, use the parking ticket van to detect potholes and give 1 hour of free parking to all Swansea residents. To boost the local economy.
Ban carcinogenic glyphosate products (such as Bronco) on council land and roads. Swansea currently spends over £110,000 per year on these chemicals. Many UK councils have already banned them, like Brighton, Glastonbury— I will push Swansea to do the same and adopt safer, pesticide-free methods.
Support local farmers and Welsh produce. Food imported from the other side of the world carries a massive carbon footprint and unknown pesticide risks. Buying locally is better for our health, environment, and economy.
Support local fishermen to reduce buying fish from all the way around the world for the same reasons.
Reopen coal mines, our oil and gas come from the Middle East or elsewhere, the transportation of fuel and food has a massive footprint, coal and local farmers will help reduce our transportation carbon footprint because it is local and reduce dependence on big oil companies and corporations.
We are against privatising the NHS. Improve Healthcare Work with independent health experts to find ways to reduce waste and reduce hospital waiting times. Direct the resources where needed most. So patients get the timely treatment they need. The NHS has a contract with a local taxi firm for minor cases. We can take it one step further, use current technology and training to direct more minor cases to taxidrivers and reduce Abulance waiting times from hours to minutes.
Save Public Money
Card payment providers get 2% -3% for every card payment. The UK economy loses over £50 million daily on card payment fees. Teach the kids to use cash. Swansea Council spent over £1.5 million on card payment fees over the last 5 years. Covinience is a debt trap. This is taxpayers’ money wasted without informed consent. We can use current technology to minimise or stop paying big corporations.
Switch to secure, high-quality open-source software to save millions. The UK spends £1.8 billion a year on proprietary licences — governments in India, Brazil, France (Gendarmerie) and others have already made the change successfully.
Democracy & Transparency
Introduce fraud-proof referendums on major local issues (inspired by Switzerland, without electronic fraud risks).
Ensure same-day vote counting to restore trust in elections.
Require DBS checks for all Swansea Council contractors and their shareholders.
Create an independent Swansea radio FM, and online, give a voice to Swansea people, freedom of speech is democracy.
Give ordinary Swansea residents from all parties and views airtime on the BBC TV and Radio, and the mainstream media, to share important local information. Public Mainstream media has been weaponised by big corporations and interests that don’t serve the people at the moment.
Protect Local Services & Community
Stop schools and Swansea Council from going fully cashless — cash preserves choice and inclusion. Card payment providers charge ~3% every transaction. Some of the shareholders of Visa and Mastercard have been accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. We have to stop giving them ~3% every time we pay for something.
Ban contractors that violate human rights and go against international law, like Palantire
Minimise Swansea’s debts through better financial control and cutting waste.
Protect local taxi businesses by stopping out-of-city taxis from operating in Swansea.
Reduce or stop fluctuating pricing. Been reports of over to 200% fluctuation between weekdays and weekends. For the customers and drivers.
No congestion charges in Swansea — they harm local businesses more than they help, as seen in Bristol, Bath, and London.
Schools should teach practical life skills: cooking, cleaning, crafting, and gardening.
Existing 2G, 3G, and 4G networks meet the needs of 99.99% of Swansea residents. Any 5G rollout only after proper informed public consent and a local referendum.
Lagefelach Rd and Swansea Road to go back to 30 miles per hour.
Respect everyone, but stop using public services (buses and police vehicles) to advertise specific lifestyles like LGBTQ.
Why Vote for Me?
I am not tied to any political party or big corporate donors. My only commitment is to the people of Gwyr Abertawe.
I will speak plainly about corporate overreach, wasteful spending, health risks, and the need for genuine local control.
Vote Katon Bouzalakos on 7 May 2026 for common-sense policies that put Swansea and Gower first.
Draft Manifesto 6/April/2026
Katon Bouzalakos
Candidate for Gwyr Abertawe
Senedd Election – 7 May 2026
My Vision: Power Back to the People.
I am standing as an independent voice for the people of Gwyr Abertawe (covering Swansea and Gower). For too long, both left-wing and right-wing governments have handed over control and contracts to massive corporations — often subsidiaries linked to firms like BlackRock — without proper scrutiny.
These corporations handle our most sensitive data, run key public services, and influence policy, yet they face far less accountability than ordinary citizens like taxi drivers who must renew DBS (criminal record) checks every few years.
This must change. I believe in bringing real power back to the people of Wales — not handing it to unaccountable global entities with troubling connections.
Key Principles and Commitments
1. Accountability for Big Corporations
All companies and their subsidiaries awarded major public contracts (NHS data, biometric systems, infrastructure, etc.) must undergo the same rigorous DBS-style vetting as individuals.
No more “money talks” contracts. Transparency and integrity must come first.
I will push for full disclosure of meetings between government ministers and CEOs of firms like BlackRock, and scrutiny of any easing of regulations that benefit them at the public’s expense.
2. Protect Our Personal Data and Privacy
Oppose the unchecked expansion of biometric systems and data-sharing with companies that have histories of breaches or controversial links (e.g., Palantir, Microsoft, and others connected to figures like Jeffrey Epstein).
Our health records, personal details, and biometric data belong to us — not to corporations with documented issues around data security and ethics.
Demand proper safeguards and the right for citizens to control how their data is used.
3. End the Influence of Unaccountable Power
Challenge the revolving door between politics and global finance/corporations.
Both major political blocs have too many ties to donors and firms that prioritise profit and control over public interest.
I will stand independently for ordinary people — taxi drivers, families, workers, and communities in Swansea and Gower — against this system.
4. Local Priorities for Gwyr Abertawe
Strong support for local jobs, fair public services, and protecting the unique character of Gower and Swansea communities.
Affordable living, better healthcare access without privatisation by stealth, and genuine community control over decisions affecting our area.
Opposition to policies that erode Welsh sovereignty in favour of distant corporate or global agendas.
Why Vote for Me?
I am not part of the Westminster or Cardiff Bay establishment. I am a local resident who has seen how the system works from the ground up. My record is clean, and my only allegiance is to the people I seek to represent.
I will speak uncomfortable truths about corporate overreach, data privacy, and the lack of real accountability in government contracting.

Our slogan is: Police check (DBS) all the Swansea and Gower contractors.
My Story: Katon Bouzalakos
My name is Katon Bouzalakos, and I am originally from the island of Ios, Greece. I have a diverse background as a taxi driver, handyman, and electrician, and I am a veteran of the KFOR peacekeeping missions. I am passionate about technology, good food, health, environment, and well-being. My hobby is research—specifically off-grid energy, cars, boats, AI, computers, and space exploration. My interests also extend to farming, fishing, and gardening; I truly love learning about everything.
Lessons from the Past
In 1985, my grandparents owned grazing land for goats in Greece. When I was about five years old, my father took me on his fishing boat around the island to that land. We weren’t there for fishing or a BBQ; he took me to take photos for a court case against our neighbor, who had moved his chain-link fence onto my grandparents’ property.
We eventually won the case, but the corrupt court system took 25 years just to have a fence removed. Witnessing that, I promised myself I would never let my children go through that kind of exhausting process or deal with such corruption.
A New Life in Swansea
My wife and I first visited friends in Swansea during the summer of 2006. We went swimming at Caswell Bay and immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of the area and the local people. Fourteen years ago, we made the move. Our children were born at Singleton Hospital, and for a long time, our lives were peaceful as we planned for the future.
Facing the Future
However, the 2020 lockdowns destroyed the dreams of many people, including ours. Driven by my love for research, I spent days, nights, months, and years studying the basics of politics. I have come to believe that we are facing a global pandemic of corruption. I thought I had left corruption behind in Greece, but I was wrong. I believe that if we do nothing to address this now, our children will be the ones to pay our heavy debts.
